Good evening, ladies, and gentlemen! How are you doing? How has the month of June been so far? We have successfully made it halfway through the year, 2022! Wow! God has been Faithful! What an awesome God we serve! Truthfully, looking at all that has happened this year, can you confidently say that it has been by your might? For the entire Sammie’s Ministries team, we can say that we couldn’t have made it this far without God! We just want to give Him all the thanks and the Glory!
A little over two months ago, we introduced a mini-series, “Easter is over- What Now?” The aim of this mini-series is to address some of the issues a 21st Century Christian faces, whilst (at the same time) sharing practical tools to our Christian Growth. We began this mini-series by exploring the importance of Quiet Time. We went on to focus on the importance of Bible Study and Bible Reading. Today, we would be looking at Prayer! Yes! Prayer is very necessary on this journey as Christians. Prayer is essential for our Spiritual Growth! Are you ready to learn more about Prayer? Let us get right into it…
Imagine you just received some exciting news! You have secured a promotion or landed a new job! You have received some money or made it to the Dean’s list or honor roll. What is your immediate reaction(s)? How would you respond to the news? What are the thoughts that may cross your mind at that point? Who do you call to share the news?
As Christians, God wants us to develop a relationship built on trust. Just like with our human relationships, we work hard to unsure that there is trust between both parties. How do you build trust? Through communication! How do we communicate with God? Through prayer. This is one of the main reasons why prayer is very important. Once we begin to develop trust in God, obeying His Words become easier. Why? Because we know that all that God has planned for us, is for our good. With that, we can always learn to go back to God and give Him all the praise and glory in the good- like the scenario we painted above.
So what is prayer? Why is prayer important? Why is it especially important for the 21st Century Christian? Well, all these and more would be explored shortly! Are you ready? Let’s get right into it!
We have successfully established that prayer is communication with God. Through this constant communication, we can develop a more intimate and trusting relationship with God. Prayer is very important because it helps us to know and understand God- as we pray, God revels Himself to us. Yes! You see, prayer is not just about telling God your problems. It is telling Him everything – the good and the bad- and waiting on Him for direction, strategies, and answers.
The best thing about prayer is that you have an unmerited right to enjoy the presence of God. You can call on God, the most powerful King of all. That’s a privilege we must treasure. Look at the protocol list or security detail of the president of the country. Yet, we can call on the person who has a billion times more authority and power (than the president) at any time and any place. Wow! We must feel very fortunate and grateful. Now, let us look at the benefits of prayer.
First, Prayer helps us to intentionally make God a priority in everything we do. As 21st Century Christians, we must learn to constantly be in communication with God. Prayers must not be left till Sundays or Saturday rehearsal nights. Prayer must be a part of our lifestyle. When we constantly communicate with God, we make Him a part of our day- a priority. With that, God can give you direction at every step of the way. This is very important! We live in a world full of many attractions and distractions! Without a strong grounding in Christ (with constant communication), navigating life’s blows can be very difficult.
Secondly, as we communicate with God constantly, we build a quality relationship with Him. As Christians, we must not be focused on having just another relationship but in a quality, intimate relationship with God. As we frequently pray, God reveals Himself to us! He helps us to know Him more.
What does prayer mean to you? Do you find the time to pray each day? What do you think you need to help you to change your prayer habits? Well, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, prayer is very essential. You can not grow properly in Christ; without prayer. Let us learn to appreciate the power of prayer and the intimacy we get to enjoy with God.
If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.
Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;
1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.
2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.
I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out!
God richly bless you! Thank you, God, for victory!
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
