Easter is Over- What Now? (Part 3-Bible Study)

Sammie's Ministries

Good evening, ladies, and gentlemen! How are you doing? Happy New Month! Yes! Its 9th May and we are a bit late to the party! It is our first blog post in the month; we are very happy to share this post with you all. How has the month of May been thus far? I pray that you are excited to take charge and conquer throughout the month!

Three weeks ago, we began a weekly mini-series titled, “Easter is over- What Now?” The aim of this mini-series is to address some of the issues a 21st Century Christian faces, whilst at the same time-sharing practical tools to our Christian Growth. Two weeks ago, we explored the importance of Quiet Time. Today, we are going to continue this series by focusing on Bible Study. Are you ready to learn more about Bible Study? Let us get right into it…

What does Christianity mean to you? Who is a Christian? What qualifies you to be a Christian? Do you call yourself a Christian? What shows that you are a Christian? These questions are sometimes what lingers in our minds as a 21stCentury Christian! We are sometimes conflicted about what to do as Christians! We wonder, “As a Christian, can I do this?” Most times, we try to justify our actions by reassuring ourselves that circumstances are different now as compared to previous generations.

You see, the principles of Christianity are the same. Why? Because they are God’s Word! Guess what? God’s word never fails! We continue to trust God’s word because His wisdom surpasses all. God knows the beginning from the end and vice versa. All the promises He has declared are relevant, no matter the age we live in. Why? Well, He knows it all and has seen what would help us best through the different ages.

Yes, I would admit that it may seem as though what we face in 21st Century is entirely different from what people from the Biblical age experienced. To be very honest, a lot of the foundations of the issues/ circumstances are very similar. If we choose to look at the surface, we may be quick to conclude that God does not understand how difficult life is!

Well, we must always strive to solve issues by uprooting the weeds- tackle the roots. The word of God does exactly that. That is why it is final! Can you imagine these words that God gave us for many generations, are still very relevant today? Does this not show you the kind of God you serve? Well, for me, it does! So, the main question is, “How do I discover the right words from God to help my situation?” The answer is quite simple! Through Bible Study.

Bible Study is an intimate, dedicated time with God, facilitated by the Holy Spirit, with the aim of getting better understanding of various portions of scripture through systematic reading and analysis of the Bible. Bible Study is very essential in the lives of Christians. It is essential for our spiritual walk with Christ and physical journey with man. We hear so many people talk about Bible study. We see many Christian influencers and Instagram pages post on Bible Study. You may wonder, “Why is this important?”

Firstly, Bible Study is important because it helps us to gain a closer relationship with God. As you spend time with God’s Word, He reveals things to you. These things are the keys we need to know Him more, to discover new things and find solutions to old things. Most importantly, Bible Study allows you to understand and know what it means to be a Child of God. Exposing all the relevant points we need to develop a relationship with Christ, through a Christ-like living approach! Bible Study is one of the mediums by which we communicate with God. He tells us what to do and how to do it through His Word! This is exactly what Psalm 119:133 tells us, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”

Secondly, Bible Study is a mechanism by which we can defend ourselves against the enemy and resist temptation. You see, even Jesus used this word to combat the enemy. Whenever He was tempted by the enemy (Matthew 4), Jesus fought him off with the power of the Word- “It is written…” It is not only the fact that Christ said these words that make them powerful. They carry the power because He understood and knew what those words mean. He was convicted by them and used them- that is the weapon.

Lastly, it is important to study the Bible because it helps us to defend and teach others about our Faith/ Way of Life! As Christians, our mission is to spread the Gospel to all parts of the world. We can do this effectively only when we have a firm grounding in the Word. You see God’s Word is life and truth! As we go telling people to know about this truth; we ourselves must know and experience it. If not, how could you possibly share with others. Just like John 8:32 reads, “And Ye Shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free!” We can only share something we know- Bible study is very important for this. The second part of this point is about defending our Faith! We must always be ready (with the help of the Holy Spirit) to answer questions about our Faith! We must not be shy or run away from the questions. Then we are doing a horrible job of spreading the Word!

Ladies and Gentlemen! How would you describe your Bible study routine? Do you have Bible Study sessions? Well, it is not too late to start! You just need to make the decision to start and be consistent with it! Don’t worry! The Holy Spirit is available to help you (any time). We are also available to support your journey- just send us a message below!

God bless you! I pray you are blessed by this piece!

If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out!

God richly bless you! Thank you, God, for victory!

Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
