Easter is Over- What Now? (Part 2- Quiet Time)

Sammie's Ministries

Good evening, ladies, and gentlemen! How are you doing? Happy New Week! Guess what? This is the final week of the month of April! Wow! We have come this far by Grace indeed! Where would we be without God? He has faithfully taken care of us and guided us through these first four months of the year! What a loving and awesome God we serve!

Last week, we began a weekly mini-series titled, “Easter is over- What Now?” The aim of this mini-series is to address some of the issues a 21st Century Christian faces, whilst at the same time-sharing practical tools to our Christian Growth. This post will be dedicated to Quiet Time! We would be looking at “What is Quiet Time?” “How to do the Quiet Time.” “The benefits of having your Quiet Time.” Let us get right into it…

Life as we know it, is very fast paced. It appears resting for a second would cause a huge gap. With a lot of “free” information, coupled with technology, time waits for no man indeed. We sometimes get caught up in the pressures of this face-paced world. Once we are not intentional living a purposeful life, we get swamped up with the things of this world. Hey! Don’t feel bad about this! We all experience this! I am a victim of this.

We want to prove to everyone that we can. We say we have God behind us, but we sometimes think that we can handle the small stuff- which moves on to the big stuff. By the time we realize what is going on, we have successfully driven Christ to the side. We realize that we are going through life our own way- using our own strength, might and wisdom.

The awesome thing about the God we serve is, He never gives up on us! He is always there with subtle reminders of His Grace, Mercy and Love towards us (His Children)! He patiently guides our path no matter how stubborn we might be! Oh, what a wonderful Father we serve!

Though we may get worked up by this world, we must be intentional about nurturing and growing our relationship with God! This is very important! Though God is very patient; He is a jealous God. We cannot take Him for granted and live our lives on our own terms- especially when we have asked Him to be Lord and take center stage in our lives.

To help in our walk with Christ (after salvation) is daily Quiet Time. Not only does it help you to grow closer to God; practicing this each day helps you to slowly learn to put yourself aside and let Christ reign in everything (especially your character and way of living). The process of doing your Quiet Time helps you to meditate on God’s Word and maintain communication with Him through prayer. It more of a journey to ensure that you are transformed to living a Christ-like life- not living a life trying to keep up with the pace of the world.

Before you dismiss the whole concept of having Quiet Time, just know that Christ also had His Quiet Time- evident in Mark 1:35. The verse reads, “Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” You see, Quiet Time is quality time that you spend alone with God in prayer and meditation of His Word.

You might ask, “Why is Quiet Time very important?” Well, there are several reasons to have Quiet Time each day. The first is for daily growth and obedience to God. As you meditate on scripture each day, and pray to God, you are strengthening your relationship with God. You can hear Him clearer and know more about Him. This helps you to grow in Him and Helps you to listen and obey His Word. John 8:31-32 reads, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”” This verse shows us the freedom we receive once we obey and commit to God’s Word (The Truth). You see, the reward for growing and obeying God is freedom! Don’t you want to live a free live- zero worries and/ or bondages?

The last point I would share is that Quiet Time helps us to grow to be Christ-like (daily). As Christians, we must aim to be Christ-like. Christ is our standard, no other men. We must strive to live our lives like Him- free of sin. As we spend quality time with God working on our lifestyle and character, He is revealing to us the ways we can transform our lives to be Christ-like. 1 John 2:6 reads, “the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.” You see, as we continue to call ourselves Christians and seek God’s face upon our lives, we must make sure that we live our lives like that of Christ. It is very important. The main question here is “Are you living a Christ-like life?” A Christ-like life does not focus on the world but on God- following the path He has for us.

Making the decision to accept Christ is not just a simple thing! Just like a seed, you must water it, work it, so that it may grow and bud beautifully. We cannot call ourselves Christians only when it suites us! We cannot focus on the world and leave God behind. There is one decision to be made- it is not partial. You are either for God or against God. There is no grey- just black or white. Which are you?

If this is your first-time hearing about Christ, or you have made the decision to make Him the center of your life, kindly say this prayer with all sincerity and truth.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. You get to enjoy the freedom, salvation, and eternal life! Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out!

God richly bless you! Thank you, God, for victory!
