The Genesis Story: Part 51- Have You Asked God?

Bible Reading: Genesis 15

Memory Verse: Genesis 15: 2 & 3

But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Hope you are good? How was your weekend? Sammie’s Daily Dose is back for another exciting week. Today we would be looking at Genesis 15 verses two and three. We would be looking at the art of asking God for things.

In the verses we are looking at, we see that Abram was asking God to give him a child. Do you see the way in which Abram was requesting for a child? He asked by questioning Gods ways. Abram wanted to find out God’s reasoning for not giving Him a child.

Many people argue that Abram did not want a child, but he just wanted to know what God wanted. I do not agree with this because for him to have wanted to know why, he would have wondered why he did not have one.

God is telling us that no matter the way or the manner in which you ask God for something, He knows what your heart desires. Whether you ask Him directly or you are beating around the bush (or as I would say “speaking in parables”), God knows all that you ask of Him. He knew what Abram wanted most- which was a child. When He asked, He answered Him. He will always answer you.

At times, God is waiting for you to ask Him before He gives you the miracle you have wanted or needed so badly. God is waiting patiently for that request. Do not be afraid of the answer. Just know that everything God does for your life is for your good. Ask Him and trust that He is doing the best. He is a Loving and Just God; not a scary one. God does this to foster communication between Himself and His children. Now, Christians are beginning to depend on themselves and the ways of this world, than to wait patiently for God. We must change this. We must ask, listen, wait patiently and receive. God bless you!

If you are reading Sammie’s Daily Dose for the first time or you feel inspired this morning to join God’s family- by accepting Christ into your heart= kindly repeat this prayer.

Dear Lord,

I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is your Son and He came on to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fill me. Lord, I ask that He cleanses me off my sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you, Lord. Amen.

If you repeated this prayer with all the sincerity of your heart, congratulations!! You are now a part of God’s family. Welcome to the greatest family ever. Heaven is jubilating on your arrival. Your fellow brothers and sisters are also excited to have you on board. You can now be exempted from the wrath of the enemy and of God. Not only do you experience this, but your whole family as well. Wow! Isn’t the God you serve so cool? He is. Not only do you enjoy this, but you enjoy other blessings God has in store for His children.

Being a child of God is a wonderful thing. The road might not always be easy, but God is with you each and every step of the way. Guiding you, helping you and encouraging up. You will never regret this decision; I can assure you of that. Two things I would recommend for you to do are;

  1. Get yourself a Bible (in a version you understand) and meditate on it day and night. In Joshua 1:8, we are told that when you meditate on the Word day and night, you will be prosperous and successful.

  2. Find a Bible- believing church to attend and fellowship with other Christians. This would help you grow spiritually.

I am excited that you made this decision. Welcome! If you would like some help or more understanding into anything, you can leave a message (adding your email address) and I would be willing and happy to help you out. Hallelujah!

  • Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you!
