Bible Reading: Genesis 1
Memory Verse: Genesis 1: 3
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Good morning everyone! Today is the beginning of another journey to becoming Christ-like disciples. For the next month or two, or maybe even three, (depending on what God tells me) we would be looking at the book of Genesis. We looking at the beginning. This series is dubbed “The Genesis Story”. It will be written in several parts each day. How many people guessed the next chapter? I hope you got it right?
At times, I hear some parents shout at their children in anger, saying all sorts of things. This usually occurs when the end of the school term has arrived and the child didn’t not do well. If this is a pattern in the child’s academic work, the parents get frustrated. I have heard people say a lot of negative comments such as; “Can’t you do any better?”, “What is wrong with you?”, “You are a disgrace.”, “I am very disappointed in you.” People even go to the extent of throwing the child’s exercise books at him or her.
Anytime I see this, I get very sad. This is because a lot of people do not think about the words that come out of their mouth. When a parent continues to utter those words, the child loses hope and give up. Most times, it causes a lot of psychological problems. But most importantly, these words are creating negative things in the spiritual world. When things come out of our mouth we create things. This parent who only speak negatively about their child, would only see negative things happening in their child’s life.
In such a case, a parent must speak positively and encourage their child. Then back it up with prayer. This is the key to seeing any sort of change in the child. Instead of using our words to curse, lets use our words to bless.
Some of the battles we face presently with the enemy are from things we have said previously but disregarded. Yup! The enemy feeds on those words and uses it against you. This is because once you said it out loud, a seed was planted. Then it grows. When a full tree is grown, the enemy uses it against. Please I urge you, don’t give the enemy any chance of getting you or putting you in a tight corner. Please, think about every you want to say before saying it.
From the Bible reading, we see that the whole creation story was done by word of mouth. God created all the beautiful things around us today by saying them. God has given us the same amount of power in our mouths. We can create into existence. That is why we must be careful of what we say. That is also the reason why God made us go out to speak the Gospel. This is because our words carry a lot of weight. We command things in the spiritual realms when we speak.
As you are reading this message, I pray that God lays it on your heart to make a decision to speak good and positive things all the time. If you have made the decision to change, please say this pray out loud;
Dear Lord,
Thank you for life. I give you all the glory, honour and adoration, Oh God. Lord, I thank you for this message. I am ready to change the way I speak. Lord, help to speak positive things to bless others. Lord, help me to control myself in times when I am angry or frustrated. I thank you for answered prayer.
Amen.
Now that you have said this prayer, I pray that from this moment onwards, you will think before you speak.
If you do not have Christ in your life, but after reading this message, you have a strongly want to; please pray this prayer.
Dear Lord,
I come to you today as a sinner. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He came to this earth to die for my sins. Dear Lord, let your Son come and fil me and cleanse me sins. I am ready to stand for you and profess your Name. Thank you Lord. Amen.
If you said this prayer, heaven is jubilating. There’s a new member of God’s family. Welcome to this awesome and loving family. Your life would never be the same again. I will encourage you get your own Bible; to read the Word for yourself so that you can grow Spiritually in Christ. Please get a Bible in a translation that you are comfortable with. I will also encourage you to find a Bible- believing church to attend; to fellowship with other Christians. It is important to do so, so that you have people helping you grow spiritually. Hallelujah!
God gave us powerful words so that we can cast the enemy and his agents away. Your words can pierce through the enemy. Is that not wonderful. But to do that, you must read the Word. We use the Word of God to fight against the enemy. That is why memory verses are stressed upon when we were younger. So that when you are in a battle with the enemy, the Holy Spirit would bring them into remembrance. Amen!
Today’s prayer:
Thank you for taking me through the night and giving me life this morning. I want to say thank you Lord, for revealing this message to you. I commit my day into your care Oh Lord. Help me to be a blessing to everyone I encounter today. Use me Oh God. Thank you for sending your son to die for my sins. I lift your name high up Oh God, for you are Great and your love endures forever.
Amen.
After reading this message, I am praying that you have learnt something very important. I am trusting that the Lord will cause many of you to change your ways. Hallelujah! So I am leaving you with this statement, “Never underestimate the power of the tongue!”
Have a wonderful day and let God inspire you.

Always remember to show love to everyone, as this is one of the most important commandments God left for us – “Love your neighbor as yourself.” In every situation, before you take a decision, remember WWJD (What Would Jesus Do). Shalom.
